Dear All,

Our day begins with fine weather.  Chattering and laughter fill the school this morning. 快晴のもと今日が始まりました。今朝も学園ではおしゃべりする声や笑い声でいっぱいです。

Of course, there are certain students who find difficult to meet TODAY.  Yet, no students are left alone.  School provides the atmosphere that students can express their hearts naturally. もちろん、今日を迎えることに苦しさを感じる生徒もいます。でも一人ぼっちな生徒は一人もいません。学園には、生徒が自然に自分の気持ちを表せるような空気があります。

Some students just walked straight to me and asked me to spare a few minutes to them! 何人かの生徒がまっすぐ私の元にやってきて、すこし時間をくださいと言ってくれました！

Lately, I do not have to give any advice, students find the solutions themselves while they are talking to me.  Awesome!  最近は、私がなにかアドバイスしないといけないということもなく、話をしている間に生徒たちが自分で解決策を見つけるようになってきました。本当にすごい！

Allow me to express what I see today among the students and staff:  今朝の生徒とスタッフに様子について話させてください。

1.    Bond and connection are tangible between the students.  生徒同士の絆が目に見えるぐらいです。

2.    Giggling of students among the girls warm my heart.  女の子たちがくすくすと笑っている様子は微笑ましくて心が温まります。

3.    Cracking and laughing cover the boys.  Seeing those boys speaks to my heart that they gonna be alright!  男の子たちは冗談を言って笑い合っていて、そんな様子を見ていると、みんないい方向に向かっているんだなと感じます。

4.    A good atmosphere and sound communication are at work among the staff.  The staff knows what students need before they open up.  Staff sees students talents and potential before no one notices.  Staff collect the right information and work with the students to become healthy independent individuals.  スタッフの間でもいい雰囲気で健全なコミュニケーションがとれています。生徒たちが打ち明けてくれる前に、何をしてあげるべきかわかるようになっています。スタッフは正しい情報をあつめて、生徒と一緒により健全で自立した人間になれるよう頑張っています。

5.    A new student told me that he finds himself stable with a help of samugaku because he used to concern every trivial thing.  一人の新入生が、今まではどんな細かいことも気にしてしまっていたけど、サムガクの支援のおかげで安定してきていることに気づいた、と私に言ってくれました。

6.    It was hard for a student to walk out of his room and to be among the students for the past two years.  Now that very student goes to his trial work regularly and gets accustomed to the routines. It is a big wow for me indeed.   一人の生徒は2年前は自分の部屋から出ることもままならなく、他の生徒と一緒にいることも大変でした。けれど今では、なんと仕事の研修にも規則正しく通い、その日常にも慣れてきました。私にとって正直かなりの驚きです。

7.    It is a total delight that students care for their appearance: hairdo, clothing, how they look.  Concerning about the appearance is the very first step to connect the society.  生徒たちが髪型や服装など、自分の見た目に気を使うようになってくれるのは本当に嬉しいことです。見た目に気を使うことは、社会と繋がるとための第一歩なのです。

This morning, there is a class which collects a variety of YouTube clips and let the students watch them. All the video clips are mainly of Sports.  The video clips of Baseball, Basketball, Football are being requested by students and Saito sensei added some of Olympic games.  Learning by seeing/watching is quite cool, it is a new finding for me.  

今朝の授業では、YouTubeの動画を集めて生徒みんなで見ました。その動画はほとんどスポーツのものです。野球やバスケットボール、サッカーの動画は生徒からのリクエストで、そこに斎藤先生がオリンピックのものをいくつか追加しました。観戦することで学ぶというのはとっても素敵なことで、私にとって新しい発見でした。

The aim of the class is for students to deepen and extend their hobbies and interests.  All the sports-related YouTube makes all students attentive.  この授業の目的は、生徒たちが自分の趣味や興味のあることを深めて広げていくことです。生徒たちはみな、そのスポーツ関係のYouTubeに釘付けになっていました。

Watching athletes, their routine hard-work and their achievements mesmerizes us and gives us a pure motivation and aspiration which students need the most day-to-day life.  アスリートを見ていると、彼らの日々の厳しいトレーニングや、成し遂げることは惹きつけられるものがあります。それに純粋なモチベーションや生徒が毎日の生活の中で必要としている憧れや野望をもらうことが出来ます。

In the afternoon, students play beach volleyball in a PE class.  Beach volleyball has made all students get together physically and emotionally.  I learn that physical movements are vital for everyone to live harmoniously and to stay fit/healthy.  午後は体育の授業でバレーボールをしました。ビーチバレーボールのおかげで、生徒たちはみんな身体的にも精神的にも協力することが出来ます。運動は全員にとって調和して健康に生きていくには本当に重要なものだと感じています。
