It’s been quite a while. This is Chaa writing today. Students and staff are living TODAY in a team and solid program. お久しぶりです。今日のブログは私、茶々が書いています。生徒とスタッフはチームで、そして実のあるプログラムで今日も頑張っています。
We staff try to see changes even if tiny ones in students. By noticing students and their changes, we converse and interact with them on what they want to aim or make changes in their daily routines towards becoming healthy independent individuals. 私たちスタッフはたとえそれが些細なことであっても生徒の変化を見て知ろうとしています。生徒と彼らの変化に気づいて、健やかで自立した人になるために日々の日課の中で何を目標にしたいのかどんな変化を重ねていきたいのかを私たちは彼らと話し合って交流し合っています。
Life is mysterious and beautiful. All the scars and struggles of students are being patched on trust, friendship, confidence, hope and dreams here in samugaku. Beauty can absolutely be found in individuals. 人生とは不思議で美しいものですね。生徒たちの心の傷や葛藤の全てはここサムガクで信頼、友情、自信、希望そして夢に繕われています。美しさは全くもって個人個人の中に見出されるものですね。
Students pick one task and do it for a month period which is called ‘Choice Study.’ In the morning hours, students spoke/shared their impressions on a month-long choice study. It is incredible indeed that students are learning to express their feelings and thoughts into words even before the class. 生徒は一つの課題を選んでそれを一ヶ月間行いますがそれは「Choice Study」（チョイスタ）と言います。今日、午前の時間に生徒たちはこの一ヶ月間のチョイスタの感想をみんなに発表しました。生徒たちがクラスみんなの前で感じたことや思いを自分の言葉で表現することを学んでいるなんて信じられないほどですね。
There will be Autumn Recreation on November 28th. Students put their heads together and try to decide what they want to do and eat on November 28th. It is fun to watch the students speaking out their wishes. 11月28には秋のレクリエーション（秋レク）があります。生徒たちは知恵を出し合ってその日に何をやりたいか何を食べたいかを決めようとしています。彼らがそれぞれ希望を口に出しているのを見ているのは楽しいですね。
In the afternoon hours, we grow onions and harvest sweet potatoes. Harvesting sweet potatoes is quite amazing. Students learn to appreciate the food that they eat by growing vegetables seasonally. And we did ploughing and watering. I didn’t know that ploughing and watering could be that much FUN. We enjoyed every bit of farming. 午後の時間には玉ねぎを植え、サツマイモを収穫しました。サツマイモの収穫は本当に素敵でした。生徒たちは季節ごとに野菜を育てることで自分たちが食べる物に感謝することを学んでいます。それから私たちは耕し水やりをしました。耕すのと水やりがこれほど楽しいとは知りませんでした。私たちは農業の一つ一つを楽しみました。
Thank you so much for your constant care and support to our school and students. Allow me to brief three students and their voices in the followings. 学園と生徒たちへの変わらぬお気遣いとご支援に感謝申し上げます。三人の生徒と彼らの声を次に書かせてください。
Student 1: For many students, to continue working at workplace is challenging. By support, love and trust of many, confidence and resilience are being rooted in the students. More or less, students react easily for any situations they face. Their mistakes and their daily struggles make the students very emotional. Yet, this student 1 is getting used to taking mistakes easy at work. He learns and is learning to have a thick skin and not to take things personally. Instead of having struggles over mistakes, this student learns to solve things. 生徒１：多くの生徒にとって職場で働き続けることは挑戦です。多くの人の支えと愛と信頼によって自信と回復力が生徒に根付くのです。多かれ少なかれ、生徒は直面するどんな状況にもたやすく反応します。彼らの間違いや日々の葛藤は彼らをとても感情的にします。それでもこの生徒１は仕事でのミスに慣れていっています。彼は鈍感力を持つこと、物事を個人的に受け取らないことを学びつつあります。この生徒はミスに悩む代わりに物事を解決することを学んでいます。
Student 2: Confidence is a big word for many of us. We understand how important confidence is in workplace and in life. Yet, it is hard to find or obtain confidence in us at times. Student 2 was quiet shy and indifferent in her early years in Samugaku. These days, her work speed and her social skill are being recognized at work. She gains confidence when her being and efforts are met with recognition. I learn that to recognize growth and changes in students is vital. 生徒２：自信とは私たちの多くにとって大きな言葉です。私たちは職場、そして人生において自信がどれほど重要かを理解しています。しかし時には自分自身に自信を見つけ獲得するのは難しいものです。この生徒２はサムガクにきた頃は物静かで恥かしがりで無関心でした。最近では職場で彼女の仕事の速さと社会性がみとめられるようになりました。彼女は彼女の存在と努力が認識を満たした時に自信を得たのです。私は生徒の成長と変化を認識することが肝心だと言うことを学びました。
Student 3: Coming to school regularly is not easy for many students. For student 3, to enter school itself causes her heart palpitated. She couldn’t breath. She needed to go home before lunch time to time. Today I talked with her and Student 3 said, ‘I could be at school a whole day for these two weeks. The fact that I could stay a whole day at school makes me happy, so is my family.’ 生徒３：多くの生徒にとって規則正しく学園に来ることは容易なことではありません。この生徒３にとって学校の中に入ってくることそのものが彼女をドキドキさせるのです。彼女は息も出来ませんでした。時折彼女は昼食の前に帰宅しないといけないほどでした。今日私は彼女と話しました。彼女は言いました。「私はこの二週間丸一日学園にいることができました。そのことがとても私を幸せにしてくれました。家族もそうです。」
Living life is tangible here in our school. I am more than grateful to be a part of this community. 人生を生きること、それはここサムガクでは目に見えてわかるものです。私はこの法人の一部であることに感謝以上のものを感じています。
