As one of excursions, we all will take part of a 45-kilometer walking on the 10th October. Every morning we take a walk for 40 minutes. I could walk with students and heard their struggles in the past. Some of the memories students have are heavy for them to disgust them. 年間行事の一つの遠足として、10月10日にみんなで45キロを歩きます。そのために、私達は毎朝40分のウォーキングをしています。生徒と一緒に歩きながら、彼らは過去の苦しみを私に語ってくれます。生徒たちのそんな思い出には、受け入れるのが難しいくらい重苦しいものもあります。
By strolling with students and listening to their struggles, we can sympathize and share our experiences. Everyone is struggling and fighting the fight and moving forwards. Parents, staff and students are working together for each student to find themselves and to enjoy life regardless of situations. Bad days and good days will come to us. Yet, we learn to live to the fullest and to enjoy life. Samuagaku is the place that students can find love and be loved and be with someone always.
ブラブラと歩きながら生徒たちの苦しみを聞くことで、共感し、その経験を分かち合うことができます。誰もがもがき、戦いながらも前に進んでいるのです。それに、自分を発見し、どんな状況でも人生を楽しめるようにと、保護者、スタッフ、生徒たちが協力しています。 悪い日も良い日もやってくるでしょう。しかし、私達はめいっぱい人生を楽しめるようになります。 誰かと共に過ごし、愛され、愛を実感する。サムガクはそういう場所なのです。
Our vice principal Hirakata shared about the jobs she had worked so far. Her first job was to collect seaweed (wakame) and cut them into three. She worked for forty hours. Yet, the job was paid not hourly at that time. She worked at fast food chain for a year and started learning what is responsibility from experiences and mistakes.
サムガクの平形教頭が、今まで経験した仕事について話をしてくれました。彼女の最初の仕事はワカメを集めてそれを三つに切り分けるというものでした。40時間働いていましたが、当時は時給制ではありませんでした。また、ファストフード店で1年間働き、そこでの経験や失敗から、責任とは何かを学び始めたとのことです。
Then she went to Tokyo in order to pursue the life of stage performer. For that, she worked at bakery as a permanent work and lived at the dorm of four people. And other 26 sorts of part time jobs. そして、彼女は舞台役者としての人生を追い求めて上京しました。そして4人での共同生活をしながら、パン屋でアルバイトをし、そこから26種類ものアルバイトを経験しました。
She shared her life at and with work with concrete experiences and with positive attitudes. Students enjoyed the class and involved the class with smiles and full attention. Lots of experiences through various part time jobs MAKE her RESILIENT for sure. 具体的なエピソードと共に、仕事にまつわる人生を、平形教頭は楽しそうに話してくれました。生徒たちもその授業を笑顔で集中して楽しんでいました。色々なアルバイトをたくさん経験したことで、きっと彼女は「凹んでもまた立ち上がる力」を手に入れたのでしょう。
I find that her being and attitude towards any sort of works WITHOUT fail speaks straight to the students and their hearts. Her past, some are heavy, was explained in simple words at class. Her being itself speaks clear message to students. I saw lots of smiles on the faces of the student during the class. 彼女のあらゆる仕事に対する姿勢は、きっと生徒の心に真っ直ぐに届いたことと思います。重い過去もありながら、彼女は自身の過去をシンプルな言葉で語りました。その態度自体が生徒への明白なメッセージでした。授業中、生徒の顔にはたくさんの笑顔が浮かんでいるのを私は知っています。
Lunch hours, students enjoy lunch and conversation. Incredible isn’t it! At times, there are students who cannot eat lunch and cannot eat lunch with others. Samugaku gives every student the opportunity to enlarge the capacity and worldview. 昼ご飯の時間も生徒たちはお喋りを楽しんでいました。信じられるでしょうか！昼ご飯を食べられない生徒や、人と一緒に食べることが出来ない生徒も時にはいます。しかし、サムガクでは、生徒たちは自分の限界と世界観を広げる機会を皆手にするのです。
Students could replace TROUBLESOME to DOABLE. Being alone with struggles becomes being with someone with the help of samugaku. I do love students become more open, more thick-skinned, more resilient as days go by. I cry at times by seeing their changes and growth. 生徒たちは「難しいこと、めんどくさいこと」を「できること」に変えていきます。「1人で悩む」が「サムガクの手を借りて誰かと一緒にいる」に変わります。だんだん心を打ち明けてくれるようになり、打たれ強くなり、立ち直る力を手に入れていく生徒たちが、私は大好きです。そんな成長を目にして、時々涙が溢れてきます。
If someone asks me what are the changes or improvements of the students, I have a long list of them for each student. もし生徒のどこが変わってどこが成長したのか、と聞かれたら、わたしは生徒一人一人についてずらっと一覧にして示すことが出来ます。
In the afternoon, I find students learn how to be in a team and how to work with a team at school. Being together and working in and with a team is quite challenging even for me (staff). Yet, students are naturally learning how to work with others at dorm and through the activities of the school. 午後には、生徒たちはチームになって、集団で協力することを学びます。集団で協力することは、スタッフの私にすらとても困難なことです。けれど生徒たちは寮生活や学園での活動を通して、自然とそれを学んでいるのです。
Being together with students, we staff grow together with them. The more I got to know students and their parents/ families, the more I grow in love, patient and understanding. So are all the staff. 生徒と一緒にいると、私達スタッフも一緒に成長していきます。生徒や保護者について知れば知るほど、私も愛や我慢、理解と言った面で成長出来ます。それはスタッフ全員が同じです。
